This former gardener's cottage is a so-called "Tiny house" in terms of area. It is a simple cottage (about 50m2) amidst an oasis of greenery, overlooking a large and lush garden. The cottage consists of a cozy living room with simple kitchen facilities and a single guest bed in an alcove, a fairly spacious bedroom with double bed, and a simple bathroom with toilet, shower and sink. Suitable for people who do not have high demands in terms of luxury, but appreciate a stay in the middle of nature. With green fingers and enough vitality to contribute something to the garden or otherwise, we think it is possible to make arrangements if you want to stay a little longer than a week on our property. There is central heating in the cottage, with its own gas meter. Gas usage will be partly settled in the rent, and in case of higher usage it will have to be settled separately.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is located in a large yard totaling 5000 m2, next to a residential farm. Overlooking the large front yard, the residence feels larger than it really is. In the immediate vicinity are many nature reserves that are wonderful for walks where all seasons are magical in a different way. The nature reserve near Bakkeveen should certainly not be missed! This is an old forest and peat area. It is one of the largest and oldest forest areas in Friesland. Furthermore, the Mandefjild between Een-West and Bakkeveen is a beautiful and varied walking area with heathland, fens, forests and whimsical sandy paths. There is often a flock of sheep walking around, with shepherd and dog. The Fochterloerveen behind Veenhuizen is vast and overwhelming. Beautiful to cycle through or for a long walk after a visit to the historic village of Veenhuizen.
