Nature house in Bosch en Duin

This former garage was converted into a very luxurious and stylish nature house in September 2016. It’s ideal for two people, but also suitable for a family with two children or four friends. It is fully insulated and heated by underfloor heating and a wood stove. Thanks to a window as large as the garage doors, windows extending to the roof ridge on the opposite side, and three large skylights, it is a wonderfully bright space with stunning views of the garden and woods. At the request of some guests, blinds have since been installed on the windows next to the entrance. The nature house consists of one large room with a wooden unit in the center. On one side of the unit is a fully equipped kitchen. On the other side is a small but tastefully appointed shower, toilet, and sink. The unit features spacious cabinets, drawers, and a staircase leading upstairs, where there is a double bed. For guests who are afraid of heights, the living room features a spacious, comfortable sofa that converts into a double bed with a single motion. The drawings and artwork by the owners’ son give the space a personal and cheerful feel. The nature house has its own private, secluded, and sheltered patio with comfortable chairs and cushions. In the woods, there’s a bench where you can enjoy nature in peace. There’s also a hammock. Wi-Fi and TV via iPad are available. Check-in is after 1:00 p.m., and check-out is before 11:00 a.m.

This nature house is located on a quiet lane in Bosch en Duin, on the grounds of a charming gardener’s house built in 1905, which is part of an estate. Bosch en Duin is a residential neighborhood in Zeist and is situated in the heart of a wooded area. It’s a three-minute walk to the Panbos, which—together with two other estates—forms a delightful 367-hectare hiking area. Eight kilometers away, you can enjoy ideal cycling in the forests of Lage Vuursche, Soestdijk, and Groeneveld Castle in Baarn. Ten kilometers south of Driebergen lies the Utrechtse Heuvelrug with its Stichtse Lustwarande, a series of more than 100 country estates stretching from De Bilt to Rhenen. Cultural attractions are also within easy reach. The heart of Utrecht is a 10-minute drive or bus ride away, but it’s also easily accessible by bike (12 kilometers). The Dom Church/Tower, the Centraal Museum, the Railway Museum, and the Saturday flower market at Janskerkhof—combined with a terrace or restaurant along the canal—make for a wonderful day out. The National Military Museum in Soesterberg with its former air base, the Oud Amelisweerd Museum with the Armando Collection, the Waterline Museum at Fort Vechten in Bunnik, and a city walk in Utrecht or Amersfoort are just a few suggestions for a nice outing.
