On one side of the country road is the De Eese Estate (800 hectares of nature reserve), where you can take beautiful walks and go cycling. On the other side of the house are the farmlands. Frederiksoord, the closest village, is the historical heart of the Society of Weldadigheid and has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Frederiksoord is surrounded by no less than three (out of 10 Dutch) National Parks: the Drents Friese Wold, the Dwingelder Veld and the Weerribben and Wieden. In Drenthe, there are the beautiful brink villages, Vledder, Diever, Dwingeloo and Havelte.
