The nature house consists of a small, cozy, renovated trailer and is located right by the sea, on a large plot of farmland that’s completely off the grid. The house is surrounded by Pinheiro Manso, characteristic Portuguese conifers. The sea is just a 2-minute walk away, and you can walk to the nearest beach in less than half an hour. You have a view of the sea right from your bed. In the distance, you can see the lights of Lisbon and Cascais, and during the day, the mountains of Sintra. The sunsets are unforgettable. In the background, you can hear the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The kitchen is simple but has a small refrigerator and everything you need to prepare a great meal. The double bed has a comfortable mattress. You’ll have your own shower (with solar-heated water, which takes the chill off the water) and a composting toilet nestled among the trees. Outside, there’s a table and chairs, a lounge bed, and a hammock.
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is surrounded by 6 hectares of farmland and is situated in rugged natural surroundings. We live on the farm with 2 dogs, 5 cats, and 12 free-range chickens. The coastline consists of high cliffs interspersed with sandy beaches. By our standards, the beaches are very quiet. There are plenty of hiking opportunities. The coast is known for surfing. Birdwatchers and windsurfers will find plenty to enjoy at Lagoa Albufeira. Cabo Espichel has a beautiful 17th-century church with adjacent pilgrim lodgings. A short drive away is Arrabida Natural Park with its monastery and the small harbor of Portinho da Arrabida, where you can enjoy a delicious meal by the water. There are climbing opportunities in this area (well-bolted routes). In our village, there’s a small supermarket, a bakery, a restaurant, and a coffee shop. Sesimbra is the neighboring town with a castle, a boardwalk, dining options, a small harbor, and a beach. The sea is calmer here, and you can go canoeing and diving.
