Nature house in Balkbrug

The nature house is part of a monumental farm barn, belonging to a historic farm (national monument). The other part of the barn is the studio of the landlord living on the farm. The two parts of the building are separated and during the rental of the nature house the studio is not in use. The cottage has a magnificent view of the Reest valley. The outside door leads to a small terrace with seating. It is fully furnished and equipped with all conveniences. The unit consists of a living kitchen with induction four-burner hob and circulation hood, a large dining table, refrigerator and microwave, coffee maker and kettle. The living room has a modern seating area, flat-screen TV, DVD player, stereo system and WiFi. The cottage further features a large bedroom with double bed (180 x 200 centimeters) and electrically adjustable Auping bed bases. The bedroom also has an outside door to the terrace. There is also a spacious shower-toilet area. All rooms are heated with underfloor heating. Area of the apartment is 78 m². The farm is one of three monumental farms located together, a so-called "farm swarm". Of these farms, one has a group accommodation, on weekends and holidays there are often guests (families). The location of the building and intermediate studio section provide privacy.

The Reest valley lies on the border of Overijssel and Drenthe. The Reest forms the provincial border. The little river meanders through a picturesque, unspoiled landscape, a unique and protected area, escaping land consolidation. Grain fields, hay fields in a coulisse landscape, woods and heath give you the feeling of being in earlier times. Winding country roads lead past centuries-old farms. The landscapes on both sides of the Reest fall largely under the Drents Landschap and Landschap Overijssel, both of which have visitor centers. Through the landscape runs a network of hiking and biking trails, extending to the Staphorsterbos, a large contiguous forest area with heath and fens. Bicycle routes connect to the forests of Ommen and Lemelerberg. Culture, art and good cuisine can be found in Kasteelhotel-restaurant De Havixhorst with sculpture garden. In the immediate vicinity, including restaurant Kiewiet in Dedemsvaart and within walking distance brasserie De Boerderij.
