Nature house in Swalmen

Those seeking peace and quiet are welcome! Groenewoud Nature House has 3 apartments: two studios and a ground-floor apartment. You’ll be renting one of the three apartments in this nature house: a studio on the first floor. The room has two beds that are joined—or can be joined—to form a nice, large double bed, and there’s a kitchenette with a refrigerator and a 2-burner electric stove where you can prepare simple meals. Pots, pans, plates, a coffee maker, and other items—everything is provided. In the hallway, you’ll find a microwave and a reading cabinet. The room has its own bathroom with a toilet, shower, and sink. There are two other apartments at Pension Groenewoud. During late hours (after 10:00 p.m.) and early in the morning (before 8:00 a.m.), guests are asked to be especially considerate of one another regarding noise. We’re surrounded by nature; please take your shoes off inside. Bring slippers or similar footwear. The studio has central heating. The decor is simple but cozy, with a slightly vintage feel. There’s a sofa and a table for eating, reading, or crafts.

This nature house features a lovely, large garden where you can enjoy both sun and shade, sit in quiet spots along the banks of the Swalm, or relax on a patio right by the house. The surrounding nature reserves, Groenewoud and De Hout, are located in the Swalm Valley and are managed by Staatsbosbeheer. There are plenty of enjoyable short and long walks and bike rides to take from the guesthouse. The guesthouse is located near the village of Swalmen. A beautiful walk along the Swalm takes you to the village center, where you’ll find shops, a supermarket, and a wide selection of dining options. An outdoor swimming pool is a 10-minute walk away. Roermond and Maastricht are lovely cities to visit. Fun day trips include a visit to Bruggen (10 kilometers), home to a fascinating nature and hunting museum. The white town of Thorn is 15 kilometers away. In Steyl, you’ll find the Mission Museum and the botanical garden. Emmaus Feniks in Tegelen is also one of our top recommendations—a great, large thrift store located on a monastery grounds.
