Nature house in Reeuwijk

This nature house is located on a spit of land on the Reeuwijkse Plassen. It’s probably one of the most beautiful spots in Reeuwijk—and perhaps even in the Randstad. The house sits on a plot of land (0.5 hectares) and is surrounded by several grassy fields. On beautiful summer days, you can take a quick dip in the lake, and at the back of the garden there’s a sauna for days when the weather isn’t quite as nice. Large teak tables are set up on all sides for outdoor dining. For the kids, there’s a trampoline, and guests can use a two-person canoe and a rowboat. If the evenings get a bit chilly, the fire pit is ready to go. Here, you can truly enjoy nature, the water, and a variety of birds. Within walking distance (one kilometer) is a small shopping center for daily groceries. The cottage has a practical layout and is well-finished. Reeuwijk is home to the Reeuwijkse Plassen, a highly diverse wetland area with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The area consists of, among other things, forests, meadows, and large bodies of water. Originally a peat-extraction area, the Reeuwijkse Plassen are now a regional attraction for recreational activities in and around the water. Fishing is permitted with a fishing license, including from the dock at the nature house. When you think of the Reeuwijkse Plassen, you think of boating and surfing. But these lakes in South Holland, located between Gouda and Reeuwijk, have much more to offer. It’s a paradise for birds. In both winter and summer, they flock there in large numbers. It’s no coincidence that a large part of this area has been designated a Natura 2000 site. From the Prinsendijk, you can admire the quintessentially Dutch polder landscape. You’ll walk along narrow roads winding through the lakes, and around the water you’ll experience the old polder landscape with its wooden embankments, reed beds, dikes, and farm roads. It doesn’t get any more Dutch than this! For day trips from the city, Reeuwijk is an excellent base for visiting The Hague (30 kilometers), Utrecht (30 kilometers), or Rotterdam (25 kilometers).
