Unfortunately, the cottage was in pretty bad shape. There were crumbs on the chairs, a lot of peeling and damaged paint, and a large wet spot on the wall near an outlet (where, according to the owner, a dog had peed and which had just been cleaned up). The worst part was the sewer smell coming from the en suite bathroom, which forced us to move to the other bedroom. The owner came to seal the drain trap, but a day later the smell was back—it was truly unbearable. We had to keep the door to that room closed; otherwise, the living room would stink too. There are no window screens in this area.
