Wake up in the morning to bird sounds and walk straight from the cottage onto the Reijntjesveld. In the dark it is also really dark and the Milky Way is a wide, illuminated lane in the sky. Around the cottage is wildlife garden with lots of privacy and a covered terrace. By bike and walking you can go in all directions here and you will not easily get bored. A fire pit is available, so you can sit outside in the evening to enjoy your own fire. The nature house is separated from the neighboring houses by a large green strip. You can order bed linen, towels and extra wood on the spot. When leaving on Sunday (after weekend stays) the check-out time is not 11:00 but 16:00.
Nature and surroundings
The Reijntjesbos is quite rolling by Drenthe standards, has deciduous and pine forest, marshes and open sandy areas. A lovely forest for a short daily walk or run. Three kilometers away is the center of Westerbork with many stores and restaurants and two kilometers away, if you cross the Reijntjesveld, you will find the museum village of Orvelte. In every direction are beautiful cycling routes, for example towards Dwingeloo with beautiful juniper forests and large moors. At Schoonloo a lovely swimming lake with a wide sandy beach in the middle of the forest. Cities nearby: Assen and Emmen. Nature inhabitants around the cottage: deer, badgers, squirrels and various species of birds such as the cuckoo, golden oriole, green woodpecker, black woodpecker, apple finch and bullfinch. Orvelte's shepherd regularly walks with the flock right past the cottage across the field and through the woods. The environmental photos on the site were taken within 800 meters of the cottage.
