It is part of the Naturpark Moor, a vast nature reserve in the border region with recreational activities such as the bog park, boating with the Snikke, the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum and the bog running center. The Börkener Paradies is a small nature reserve on the waters of the Ems just across the border, this is what the Netherlands looked like in the Middle Ages! And for example through the Hunebedcentrum you get information about the origin of dolmens and where in Drenthe you can find them. And then there are Wildlands, the zoo in Nordhorn, art routes, an international sculpture garden, galleries, museums, fine restaurants and a wonderful sauna. Germany is just a stone's throw away.
