Nature house in Spijkerboor

Are you planning a family gathering, or do you just want to get away for a while with your family or friends? This nature house can accommodate groups of up to 10 people. Please note: youth and student groups are NOT permitted.  There are five bedrooms, two of which have private bathrooms. The remaining three bedrooms share a (larger) bathroom with a shower and tub, and a separate toilet. All bedrooms are located on the ground floor. There is a kitchen-dining area with a large table, and the garden features a covered patio and a gazebo by the water. Parking is available behind the cottage. In this nature house, you’ll find a fully equipped living room above the kitchen. It’s cozy up on the upper floor, beneath the roof still supported by the original trusses. There’s a cabinet full of games, books, and magazines to help ward off any boredom. There’s also a real shuffleboard set, for some good old-fashioned Dutch fun!

The insects in the bushes along the water’s edge make soft, buzzing sounds, while the light of the setting sun bathes the world in an orange glow. The scent of grass and barbecue hangs in the air. Two canoeists paddle by. Their laughter and the splashing of water echo between the banks of the Hunze. And the Hunze flows right behind this beautiful spot. In the summer, you can explore the vast beauty of the Hunze using the canoes and kayaks provided, or swim and fish in the river. In addition to peace and nature, there’s plenty to do nearby. It’s just a two-minute walk to Café ’t Keerpunt, where you can enjoy a delicious meal in the evening and listen to live music. Spijkerboor is the perfect base for a day trip to Drenthe or Groningen. You’ll be close to, among other attractions, the downtown areas of Assen and Groningen, the Drents Museum, Emmen Zoo, and the Hunebedcentrum Borger. The little ones can also have fun in the area, for example with a visit to the Sprookjeshof in Zuidlaren or the Kabouterland playground in Exloo. And both Zuidlaren and Veendam have subtropical swimming pools.
