Bungalows in Lazio

Lazio, except for a world-famous sports team, is also a region in Italy located on its west coast on the Tyrrhenian Sea. Lazio is the region in which the Italian capital (Rome) is located, thus drawing in many tourists all around the year. Although most visitors tend to prefer Rome or the coast of Lazio, the deeper parts of the region also have something for everyone, especially for nature enthusiasts.

Can you imagine exploring nature in the wild and staying in a bungalow while being so close to Rome? Book a bungalow now and enjoy all the advantages of a comfortable accommodation but in the middle of serene Italian nature. The bungalows will be equipped accordingly to cover your needs and even more. The hosts are always one call away at your disposal, although you can enjoy a contactless stay if this is what you prefer.

Lazio – at the heart of Italian nature

The Circeo National Park occupies the coast of Lazio from Anzio to Terracina. There are 5 different habitats in the mark, making it one of the most diverse protected areas in Italy. There is a forest, a promontory, a littoral dune, a humid area and an island. The forest in the park is in fact part of the ancient forest Selva di Terracina; it is the largest forest in Italy and its most pronounced characteristic is the existence of the swimming pools. These are marshes which disappear and reappear throughout the year when there is more rain. The forest area is very rich in plants and especially berries, therefore there are also a lot of animal species.

Another habitat is promontory – an island-shaped massif. The whole massif is covered with dense vegetation and coastal caves – Grotta Guattari, delle Capre and dell’Impiso. Some of the caves have been studied and signs of former life have been found – in one cave a skull of Homo neanderthalensis was found; another was believed to be inhabited by the Neanderthal man. The Sea Dunes and the humid areas are also a terrific place to discover. The 22 km long coast is a spectacular view with its limestone cliffs, the Torre Pao la lighthouse and the fine sand beaches. In the humid areas the remains of marshes have been turned into a rich ecosystem for birds, fish and animals typical for the region.

Activities

If you want to visit even more caves (which are also a natural air conditioner during the hot Italian days), except for the caves we already mentioned, you can also visit the Caves of Pastena. This is a deep karst cave network discovered in 1926. The cave has a significant “collection” of stalactites and stalagmites, some of which are active, while others have fossilized, which means that they haven’t dripped in a few years.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to admire Italy from the air? If the answer is yes, then do not hesitate to try riding a hot air balloon from Rome over the whole region of Lazio. The trip is unforgettable to say the least and the views are breathtaking. Another “air adventure” is paragliding. Around Lazio and especially along the coast there are boat trips organized regularly. You can take one of those to be able to explore the water closer. Combine this with scuba diving and you are in for an amazing adventure.
