This nature house is housed in a former World War II emergency shelter. It is located on the edge of the Halsters Laag nature reserve. In 2026, we converted the emergency shelter into a luxury vacation home, fully equipped with all modern conveniences. From the spacious private terrace, you have an unobstructed view of the Oudlandse Polder and the Halsters Laag. The vacation home offers ample space for two people (and up to four). The property features two bedrooms: one with a double bed and one with a bunk bed. There is also a spacious living room with an open kitchen. The living room features a comfortable sofa, two armchairs, and a dining table. The kitchen is equipped with all modern appliances, including a dishwasher, combination oven, refrigerator, and Nespresso machine. The vacation rental also features Wi-Fi and a TV. The shower and toilet are separate. You can safely store bicycles in a locked room. A delicious breakfast is available as an option.
Nature and surroundings
This nature house is located in a hamlet within the municipality of Steenbergen. Here, you can fully enjoy nature. Take a walk along the Halsters Laag boot trail or visit the Moses Bridge and Pompeius Tower at the nearby Fort De Roovere. On the other side of Steenbergen, between De Heen and Dinteloord, you’ll find the nature reserves De Heense Slikken and Dintelse Gorzen. Here, you can take a walk among the Scottish Highland cattle. The Waterhoefke is also located along the cycling junction route (No. 56). The surrounding area also offers plenty of amenities. There are plenty of good restaurants and shops nearby. Furthermore, Bergen op Zoom and Willemstad (15 min.) as well as Antwerp and Breda (30 min.) are just a short drive away. Ready for a relaxing stay? The beds are made and the towels are ready. Free cancellation within 7 days of your booking confirmation, provided the booking request was made more than 28 days before the start date. For bookings starting within 28 days, free cancellation applies within 24 hours. If you cancel within the specified period, you are entitled to a full refund of the booking amount.
After that, you will receive a partial refund of the trip cost and a 100% refund of the deposit:
• Up to 42 days before arrival: 70% refund
• 42–28 days before arrival: 40% refund
• 28 days through the day of arrival: 10% refund
• On the day of arrival or later: no refund
