Our luxurious and cozy nature house is located in a former school building in the heart of the historic village of Veenhuizen. Veenhuizen is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Society of Weldadigheid: a unique cultural-historical village with impressive monumental buildings and a special socio-cultural story. The nature house is very spacious and light, but also warm and cozy due to the carefully chosen decoration with organic details. If desired, the beds can be made up by us as twin beds or as one comfortable double bed. You have complete privacy here thanks to a private entrance with enclosed private garden with terrace. Charging points for electric cars are just 250 meters walking distance.
Nature and surroundings
Because of its location on a quiet, dead-end street and sheltered garden, you will enjoy the silence, greenery and birdsong. For an extra dose of nature you can walk or cycle right into the unique, ancient and vast bog landscape of the Fochteloërveen, with woods and heathland on the edges. Assen is only 15 minutes away and Groningen a 30-minute drive. Also the characteristic villages of Drenthe with their atmospheric esdorpenlandschappen are more than worth a visit. The Prison Museum, stores, restaurant Bitter and Sweet, beer brewery Maallust, studios and special history are within walking distance. Whether you come to soak up culture, walking, cycling or just to catch your breath: at Buutvrij you will find a unique place where history, nature, hospitality and relaxation come together.
