Adventure holidays

Hey, adventure enthusiasts. Are you ready for you next journey? Of course you are! That's why we have selected the best houses in nature for your special adventure holiday. On this page you can find accommodation throughout Europe. We hope to inspire you to visit a different country or a specific region that you have not yet discovered. Who knows, maybe it becomes your new favorite destination for ventures and excitement.

What can you do in you adventure holiday?

With Nature.house you can have a tailor-made active holiday anywhere in Europe. Run a marathon, climb a mountain, sail a boat, anything you want! Push your limits for a real thrill. Any adventure lover knows that survival skills are crucial in dangerous situations. Perhaps it might be an idea to go on a survival holiday and learn new skills on how to live in the wild nature. If you are not a sportsperson, or you want a slightly different adventure, you can go whale and dolphin watching in Northern (Norway, Ireland, Iceland) and Southern Europe (Italy, Spain, Portugal). Or simply visit Germany for the Oktoberfest! We all know drinking with strangers can turn out to be quite adventurous. The world's largest beer festival is a Bavarian tradition dating back to 1810. It now gathers more than 6 million people each year and more than 5 million liters of beer are consumer during the two weeks period. Below you will find more ideas about your adventure travel. Whatever you decide, we will help you with the right holiday home to complement your special experience in nature. A tip - book something more unusual like a tent, a yurt or another glamping option so that you can feel the adventure even by just resting in your home.

Winter sports

Skiing is the most obvious choice for a winter sport. Another popular sporting activity in the winter is snowboarding. But if that’s not your thing, you can still go ice skating or just play around in the snow with your friends. Take your whole family for a sporty holiday in the winter. You will have a lot of fun and memorable experiences. And our accommodation in nature is perfect for this type of holiday - huts, chalets, cabins. All kinds of tiny houses (or big villas) that give you this cozy and warm feeling you need after an active day out in the cold. Our advice - find a home with a sauna and/or a fireplace!

Water sports

Are you an adrenaline junkie? Go rafting with a big group of people, it’s plenty of fun! And if adventure for you means a quiet and relaxing fishing holiday, that's also okay. Scuba diving is a favourite activity for water sports enthusiasts. Among the best places to do this in Europe are Croatia, having the cleanest sea in Europe; the Italian Azores and Sardinia where you can find interesting wrecks underwater; and... Iceland! Diving in Iceland is special because of the Silfra rift - the only place where you can touch both the American and Eurasian tectonic plates. You want action and danger in your summer adventure holidays? Then you can snorkel with sharks in Greece, the Canary Islands, Portugal. And in Norway you have the unique opportunity to swim with killer whales!

Hiking

You can do this in any of the hilly regions in Europe. There are many epic hiking trails that continue for more than 150 km! If you need a challenging expedition, then follow the long-distance trails like the Tour de Mont Blanc in France (up to 7 hrs per day, around 11 days in total) or the West Highland Way in Scotland. You can also do trekking or just simply walk around nature. Not as challenging, but can explore nature with your own pace and still end up satisfied and relaxed. It's a great way to celebrate Easter! In the greater outdoors you can feel the spirit more lively than anywhere else. And the spring weather offers great hiking conditions almost anywhere in Europe. Just imagine the views of the green undulating forests, the mountain lakes sparkling in the valleys. Colorful meadows lay below you in the distance, and the first flowers climbing their way around the rocks of the peaks.

Climbing and bouldering

Like hiking, climbing and bouldering is also possible throughout Europe. Even in the Netherlands that has no mountains! You should consider visiting some of the places that are not as popular. These include mainly countries in Eastern Europe, such as Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic and Macedonia.

Mountain biking

If you are a mountain bike enthusiast, you probably already know the best routes with picturesque scenery. The Rhodope Mountains in Bulgaria might be a place you still haven’t visited and it’s definitely worth checking. Another interesting mountain biking trail is the Trans Slovenia, that takes you through Slovenia, Italy and Austria! Something new that you could try is fat biking. A fatbike is an off-road bike with oversized tires that allows riding on rough terrain like sand, snow, bogs and mud. Challenge yourself!

Kayaking adventure holidays

Most adventure travellers have tried kayaking adventures at least once. Holiday destinations that are popular are Madeira in Portugal, Madrid in Spain, and the French region of Brittany. You can also go kayaking in the Ardennes in Belgium, or somewhere in Denmark

Safari

Do you want to go into the wilderness where dangerous animals roam freely? That’s possible in many places in Europe. You can observe the rear bison in Poland, for example.  In Greenland it’s possible to go on a sailing safari and watch polar bears, whales, seals, reindeer, arctic hares… If you find bears to be fascinating, you should visit Romania. Why? A whole two thirds of all bears in Europe live in the mountains of this country! There you will also find wolves, lynx, chamois (or goat-antelope) and many bird species.

As you can see, an activity-based holiday in Europe can be more diverse than you thought. And this makes it difficult to choose. A suitable destination where you can combine different types of activities is the Azores in Portugal. You first push your limits with rock climbing, cliff-diving and canyoning, and then relax by swimming with dolphins or whale watching. Plan your vacation and don’t forget to choose the right accommodation. For your adventure holiday in Europe you can pick a house that would suit the planned activities. Rock climbing, for example, is possible in the mountain regions, while you should search for a house by the water if you want to go canoeing.
