Europe has always impressed with a spectacular atmosphere throughout the continent and especially some of its cities are considered as the perfect getaway for a romantic holiday. However, cities such as Paris and Rome can easily get crowded and overwhelming, therefore people tend to look for a more peaceful alternative for a weekend of romance. Thankfully, the rural parts of the continent provide plenty of possibilities to enjoy serene nature in the company of a loved one without the crowds of Champs Elysée.

A romance in nature

What a better way to connect with your partner than by exploring a beautiful region filled with numerous delights for all your senses? Head to Asturias in Northwest Spain to admire the spectacular landscapes, the amazing smell of fresh mountain air, to immerse yourself into the rich taste of delicious Spanish food! The northern part of the region is mountainous, with the Cantabrian mountains looking over picturesque Spanish villages, which have been established in medieval times. Head to the fishing village of Gijón to take a picture on the seafront promenade and learn together about the rarest plant species in a 60-acres-big botanical garden. The region is also known for the abundance of caves located in the rocks above the little towns – Tito Bustillo and Cuevas del Agua are just some of those, which you can visit.

You have not seen enough of Germany and its culture, if you haven’t visited Franconia. We are amazed by its beauty each and every time we visit the region. The area provides you with numerous possibilities to explore – valleys, cliffs, and rivers are scattered across the territory. The culture of Franconia is very unique and a mixture of German customs of past and present, as well as many traditions left from the Roman Empire. The locally made wine is for example made according to a roman tradition. Storybook villages and picturesque towns await visitors on their next trip: Coburg, Bamberg (known as the Venice of Germany) and many more are here to surprise you with their stunning beauty.

Activities

Some of the greatest activities to try as a couple are those which will create an unforgettable experience for both of you. We dare you to be bold and adventurous and choose something different on your vacation this time. If you haven’t biked together in a long time, there are numerous cycling trails in the national parks and reserves on the continent. By hiking or biking to a lake in the wild, you could then enjoy the warm weather and jump for a swim in the fresh waters of a beautiful lake. Of course, most recreational-area lakes offer activities such as canoeing and kayaking as well. For those of you who wish to be more adventurous together, you can go paragliding above Dune du Pyla in France; or you can go whitewater rafting through the Grand Canyon of Europe – the Gorges du Verdon, also in France.
