Cottages in Park Linkeroever

Linkeroever is a park on the left bank of the Scheldt River flowing through the Belgian city of Antwerp. The city is known as a cool and modern metropolis hidden in between old buildings. Although the port city is quite busy, the government always thinks of ways to improve people’s lives by making sure they have enough places for rest and relaxation such as parks. One of the best among them is Linkeroever!

We offer different types of accommodation in or near the city. Of course, as always, the focus of our cottages is nature, even when they are part of the city lines. Rest assured that you will wake up to the sounds of bird chirping and not car horns. We offer numerous cottages in the Antwerp area, but also in nearby Belgian or Dutch towns, villages and rural regions. This way we make sure that you are staying as close as possible to Antwerp while having a chance to explore other great natural wonders, too.

Nature to explore

Linkeroever is an interesting city park which offers numerous possibilities for fun and adventure. Its name literally translates to the left bank (meaning the left bank of river Scheldt). On the edge of the park you will find Saint Anna beach where you can sunbathe and swim in the company of the phenomenal Antwerp skyline.

Some of the highlights of the park include Middenvijver, Saint Anna forest and Het Rot. Middenvijver is a beautiful lake and a nature reserve popular among local walking and cycling enthusiasts. Nearby, the forest Saint Anna used to be a great place for walking and exploring the woods. However, in January 2021 it was closed due to the construction of a highway which will sadly take away almost 30% of the forest.

Het Rot is another nature reserve in the city. It is located on a short trip from the city center where you will meet hundreds of walkers and cyclists with their children and the family dog. It is a beautiful place to spend your Sunday.

Stay active and amused

The left bank of the river is known as the green side of the city. Nearby the beach you will find Sainta Anna Forest, or head to Middenvijver to enjoy its sandy meadows. There is a walking tour which will take you through the highlights of this natural oasis in the middle of the city. It is 11 km long and is perfect for beginners. Additionally, from Middenvijver lake you can take the 1.5 km walking path which will lead you to Galgenweel Lake.

An interesting cultural activity happens in Middenvijver during August and September. It is a music festival under the name “Fire is Gold”. Multiple stages are set up and different types of music is played in an enclosed area where visitors of the city as well as the local population can enjoy the sun in the last summer days.

Het Rot also has a walking trail, which you can follow to explore all the interesting places in the reserve. Het Rot is also one of the stops along the 33 km cycling route Sint-Anneke Route. This reserve is also nearby the second lake on the left bank – Galgenweel.
