Nature Awaits you here

The Spanish ibex is one of Sierra Nevada's most iconic species, and with about 15,000 of them in the national park, you'll almost certainly see one if you spend a few days hiking in the high mountains. Raptors, as well as a variety of other smaller birds, are common. The most well-known of the indigenous species and barberry bushes are the Snow Star. When hiking in the Sierra Nevada, the Spanish ibex is unquestionably the most common creature to be encountered, and huge groups are not unusual. They are not very shy, but if you approach them closer than fifty metres, they will normally flee. They're extraordinarily sure-footed climbers who have no qualms about scaling seemingly vertical hills. Aside from farm animals like cows and goats, rabbits, hares, and squirrels are the most common mammals you'll see.

Foxes, badgers, martens, and wild cats live in the highlands, but unless you are very patient, you are unlikely to see them. There are five unique climate zones, and the vegetation is heavily influenced by altitude. Subtropical fruit trees can be found below 700 metres, as well as common juniper, rosemary, and dwarf gorse in uncultivated places. Fruit orchards, fig-trees, olive trees, wild thyme, and lavender can all be found between 700 and 1,300 metres above sea level. In the spring, the meadows at these elevations are a riot of colour. Between the heights of 1,300 and 1,900 metres, you'll discover holm oaks, chestnuts, and poplars, among other trees.

Want to explore the Outdoors?

From Malaga, Seville, or Cordoba, you may easily visit several charming tiny communities of white-washed buildings grouped in the hills behind Costa del Sol. Our recommendation is to drive about the region in your own or rented car and see where the road takes you. You may do a round trip from one city to the other or take a scenic detour between the two. The most essential thing is to do it slowly and allow for small, winding roads and multiple photos to stop. Take in the beauty, stroll through as many white villages as you like, and relax with a quiet drink in one of the many gorgeous plazas.

Hiking in the Sierra Nevada National Park is one of the top things to do in Spain if you enjoy the outdoors. It encompasses more than 850 square kilometres and includes Europe's second-highest mountain range. Pine trees, river basins, and beautiful views of the countryside and Granada makeup the magnificent setting.
