This nature house in Twente is a place for lovers. On a private estate with lots of natural beauty, architecture and enjoyment. Located south of Beckum, on the road between Hengelo and Haaksbergen, it is easily accessible. Once you arrive over the 200 meter long forest road, you look out between the buildings over a large moor surrounded by forest and see the nature house in the distance. This is one of the four buildings of the private estate; the others are the residence, the workhouse and the residents'/managers' barn. The size of the estate is 10.7 hectares. The terrain consists entirely of natural vegetation: forest, heath and fens. At the edge of the largest heathland is the yard with buildings. Along the southern border runs the Beckumer Buitenbeek, along the northern border a bicycle path. Together with the two adjacent parcels of another estate, this estate forms a contiguous block of 30 hectares of forest and heathland with fens and streams. The nature house is located in the middle of 30 hectares of wildlife rest area, therefore no dogs and no fireworks.

Sensational in its simplicity and diversity: that typifies the nature on this estate. No peaks, valleys, glaciers or waterfalls. Just forest, heath, brook and fens, as you can find in many places in Twente. On this estate you can find it all: just extraordinary. Exotic beauties are also there: the marsh arum lilies in the Beckumer Buitenbeek that meander through forest and heath like a yellow ribbon during bloom in April. The nature house lies entirely within the Ecological Main Structure. The province's goal is to have the Ecological Main Structure realized by 2018. Also, the estate lies in the robust connection Holterberg-Haaksbergerveen. This has been included in the National Spatial Strategy adopted in early 2005. Robust connections are broad zones in the landscape that connect large nature areas. They consist for a significant part of forest and nature. The purpose of these connections is to strengthen the cohesion between the components of the National Ecological Network.
