Nature and surroundings
The nature house is located in the beautiful hilly countryside of the Dordogne, in the triangle of Limoges, Brive and Perigueux, one of the most popular regions of France. Because it is located in the northern part of the department (the Perigord Vert) it is not very touristy but within an hour and a half drive one can nevertheless reach the Dordogne River and its beautiful castles. In the village of Badefols d'Ans, less than one kilometer from the cottage, you will find a small supermarket (epicerie), a bakery, a beautiful medieval castle, an also medieval church, a hotel and two good restaurants. Six kilometers away is the castle of Hautefort with its beautiful gardens. There is also a hospital museum there with a chapel. There is also a large supermarket in Hautefort. On Saturdays and Sundays there is always a brocante (flea market) somewhere nearby. Medieval towns like Perigueux, Sarlat and Montignac and the caves of Lascaux are half an hour/three quarters of an hour away by car. Every weekday there is a market somewhere nearby. Biking, hiking, horseback riding, canoeing on the river, golfing, fishing: there is a lot to do in this region. Do you want rest, activity, good food (cuisine Perigordienne): The Dordogne has it all!
