Spectacular sights to visit

Spain is located in Southwestern Europe, where parts of their territory is separated between the Mediterranean Sea, across the Strait of Gibraltar and off the shore in the Atlantic Ocean. Cantabria is in northern Spain, where the name was given to the strip of land between the Bay of Biscay and the Cantabrian Mountains. The wet and moderate oceanic climate, but also the particularly lush vegetation of the area granted the unique name of the area. The Atlantic Ocean winds are trapped by the mountains forming a climate with annual precipitation of around 1200 mm.

The largest sites for cave paintings are the cave of Altamira, dating around 37000 BC and was declared by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites along with nine other caves in the area.

Seven are the natural areas designated as natural parks in the area, where the most important of those are the Picos de Europa National Park which surrounds Asturias, Castile and León in addition to Cantabria. There are also Special Protection Areas for birds in Joyel, Santoña and Victoria.

How can you stay active during your vacation?

If you rent a chalet in Cantabria you will enjoy a holiday with beautiful scenery, delicious local food, and vast sandy beaches. More than 6500 caves are awaiting those of you who are ready to set their new extreme limit. Examples can be the caves of Altamira and El Soplao – great for mature cave explorers.

However if you prefer to have a more chilled vacation you can still stay active by walking around the beaches. This is an experience like no other, as you will slow down, relax and enjoy the sea and sand. Another thing you can do is to visit Cabárceno that will offer you and your family an opportunity to witness animals from all over the world living in semi freedom, taken care of by experts. You can see lions, jaguars and ostriches that will make your time worth it.
