One of Italy’s most beautiful coastal areas in the Mediterranean is located on the island of Sardinia. A true natural paradise awaits those who decide to visit Italy. But this island provides so much more than simply a beach or two. Of course, the coastal area is undoubtedly beautiful, however the island also has vast mountainous and forest territories, which will allow you to enjoy a lot more than simply a day at the beach.
Booking a bungalow in Italy offers you the unique opportunity to discover the stunning nature of this country, while also enjoying the peace and calm of areas less popular among tourists. The bungalows are located in rural areas, where you will be able to explore the area of Sardinia, while still being close enough to the beaches and the picturesque towns along the sea.
Nature to discover
If you prefer to explore the inside of the island, there is a lot to discover! There are numerous nature reserves as well as two national parks. Asinara is the second largest island of Sardinia where you will find a rocky but beautiful coastline and isolated beaches. As the island is quite remote from the mainland, you have to rent a boat or use the ferry to access it. Once on it, you will be walking across the Asinara National Park. This protected area has been a paradise for wildlife mainly due to its remoteness. The most famous fauna representatives are the Asini Bianchi or the albino donkeys.
For a more dramatic landscape head to northwestern Sardinia where you will find yourself on the premises of Porto Conte regional park. The coastline is breathtakingly dramatic with forests hanging above the water, lagoons and sandy beaches which look as if they have come out of a painting. The whole area feels surreal. This park is in fact established to preserve the flora and fauna in this specific region. Capo Caccio is the highlight of the park. The cliffs are extremely steep, the sea is bright blue and almost impossible to look at! The view from atop Capo Caccio is truly spectacular!
Activities to try
Going to Sardinia without spending a day at the beach is like going to Rome and not seeing the Pope! The beaches of Sardinia are definitely the most popular place to visit along the island. Although Sardinia is a quite popular destination, there are some beaches which can still remain relatively quiet even during the high peak season. Pelosa beach is located near the town of Stintino; this beach is bright white, creating a beautiful contrast to the turquoise colors of the Mediterranean.
Hiking is one of the popular sports on the island, as most of the territory is covered in hills and mountains and the rest hides under thick vegetation. For example, in Capo Caccio you can take the trekking path to Punta Giglio and immerse in the beautiful panorama! Bidderosa Natural Park also provides opportunities for walking, hiking and cycling! The paths will take you to the best beaches in Sardinia, as well as 5 small coves!
